Adele’s ’25’ Is the First Album to Sell 1 Million Copies in Multiple Weeks

<> at Hollywood & Highland Center on February 24, 2013 in Hollywood, California.

Update: Adele’s 25 just cracked 8 million in sales. It’s only the eighth album to do so since 2001.

Last we heard, Adele’s new album, 25, sold 3.38 million copies in its first week, beating the previous sales record held by *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached. Now we have a new broken record: According to Billboard, 25 has become the first album to sell more than a million copies in two different weeks since Nielsen started collecting sales data in 1991. Billboard will have the full second-week 25 sales numbers on Sunday, December 6 — so hold on to your butts.
